The Susanne
The Susanne is our oldest cottage and was built in 1962 as the summer home of Dr. Gerrit Toennies, the current property owner's father, until he passed away in 1978. His wife continued to spend her summers there until the early 90's.
The Susanne was named for Dr. Toennies oldest grandaughter. In 2005 this cottage was totally renovated and updated, but you'll still see much evidence of its original homeliness. The entire cottage is paneled in knotty pine on the walls and ceilings. The spacious kitchen and great room is flanked by a large master bedroom/study and an additional smaller bedroom. It has a unique brick fireplace and a pullout bed for smaller children or visitors in the great room. The master bedroom has a king size bed with a small study where Gerrit's desk still remains today. The smaller bedroom has two day beds. The total cottage living area is about 600 square feet. The cottage features a 32-inch streaming flat screen television and Starlink high-speed internet service. |
The cottage has cathedral ceilings and a large bay window providing a striking view of the sun setting over the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. It has a single bathroom with tub and shower. For the occasional chilly night or morning, there are electric baseboard heaters throughout. It is gently nestled in the trees and very well insulated. For the occasional warm day, the great room and the smaller bedroom have ceiling fans.

*The question has been asked before and we understand that others may have a concern but feel apprehensive to ask: - While Dr. Toennies did pass away on PEI in 1978, he did not pass away in this or any of our other cottages. His final resting place is a nearby church cemetery, not on this property.
